Creating Florida 2.0 Through Policy
The following is a list of bills I will be promoting next legislative session in a "Financial Freedom & Choice" Package.
I want Florida to be the place to be for Financial Freedom and Choice, and that means ensuring that Floridians have the ability to innovate and invest safely. Here are just SOME of the bills we are looking to promote
1) An Open Source Software Bill.
Think of this like a DAO Bill but better. This bill would encourage open source software development in the State of Florida. We have been working on this with @theethlawyer who is just incredible.
2)Setting up a Court of Chancery
A Court of Chancery is one of the reasons why Delaware is the Corporation haven it is today. This would be a huge business win for blockchain companies. @sashahodler has been a huge help on this. She is amazing.
3)Allowing for the Digital acceptance of Gold or Silver
"Enactment of this legislation would create an option for people to conduct business in sound money, set the stage to undermine the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money, and possibly create a viable alternative to a central bank digital currency (CBDC)." This bill was introduced in Texas. First gold and silver, then maybe another digital asset? Follow me?
@anessasantoslaw & @MichaelHiles have been huge allies and inspirations for this. 4) Allowing banks to custody digital assets
Virginia's banking legislation explicitly states that Banks can Custody digital assets like Bitcoin. This would also allow for other financial intermediaries to custody digital assets if they so choose, such as digital real estate. State chartered banks currently can custody digital assets in Florida, but banks don't feel safe doing so without legislation. We may also try to ensure that banks can not discriminate against web3 businesses.
5)A right to mine Bitcoin bill
This bill comes from the @SatoshiActFund a non profit focused on protecting Bitcoin miners from discrimination, founded by @Dennis_Porter_
6) Funding Pilot Programs
Every year we push to fund pilot programs. We will be doing the same this year. Pilots will focus on: real estate, logistics, voting, & transit. Conclusion These are some pretty big goals. Most likely some of these bills will take more than one year to get through. But this is our vision to create Florida 2.0
